Atrenta's SpyGlass Constraints Selected as Finalist for 2003 EDN Innovation of the Year Award

SAN JOSE, Calif.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—Feb. 10, 2004— Atrenta(R) Inc., the Predictive Analysis Company, announced that its SpyGlass(R) Constraints product, a design constraints validation solution, has been selected from a field of hundreds as a finalist for this year's EDN Innovation of the Year Award. This exclusive awards program, sponsored by EDN Magazine, is dedicated to honoring truly outstanding engineering products in the electronics industry. A panel of EDN's technical editors selected SpyGlass Constraints in the EDA Design Exploration category.

SpyGlass Constraints is the industry's first design tool that validates the complete design: RTL + SDC Constraints + technology libraries. SpyGlass uses a unique "predictive analysis" technology to analyze constraints at RTL to ensure that consistent and complete constraints are used to drive downstream tools, thus reducing wasted effort in complex timing closure flows. The tool analyzes both block and full-chip-level constraints and verifies mutual consistency among these multiple levels of constraints. It also automatically generates template constraint files from an RTL description to help designers quickly create correct constraints files -- a necessity for downstream tools such as synthesis, timing and physical design tools. This reduces late stage iterations and accelerates back-end debugging by removing inconsistencies between constraints and design data.

In the next few weeks, EDN's worldwide audience of electronics engineers and engineering managers will use an online ballot to select the ultimate winner from among the finalists. To vote for SpyGlass Constraints to be the EDN Innovation of the Year, please visit the EDN Access Web site at www.edn.com/innovation, and cast your vote. Winners will be announced at a ceremony on March 29, 2004 in San Francisco.

"We always get an outstanding set of entries to our Innovation program," said EDN Editor-in-Chief Maury Wright. "The chosen finalists should be proud of their selection because many worthy products barely missed the cut. I look forward to meeting with all of the participants at the awards banquet."

"This recognition from EDN Magazine is continued validation of Atrenta's innovation in solving complex chip design problems through our unique and pioneering 'predictive analysis' technology," said Dr. Ajoy Bose, chairman, president and CEO of Atrenta Inc. "Constraints are the critical bridge between RTL and implementation and incorrect constraint files can delay implementation schedules by as much as 50%. Atrenta's SpyGlass Constraints product automates the analysis of these constraints files and ensures their consistency and completeness."

About Atrenta

Atrenta delivers predictive analysis solutions to the world's leading electronics companies, including eight of the top ten semiconductor companies. Its pioneering and award-winning SpyGlass Predictive Analysis tools accelerate the design of SoCs, ASICs, and FPGAs by detecting complex chip design problems that are not easily identified with conventional verification methods. SpyGlass has been recognized with several distinguishing awards, including EDN magazine's Top 100 products and "LSI Design of the Year" award by Japan's Semiconductor Industry News. Most recently, SpyGlass Constraints was named as an EDN Innovation Awards finalist for 2004. Atrenta was also chosen by Venture Reporter as one of the top 100 venture-backed companies, and named by AlwaysOn as one of the Top 100 private companies.

Atrenta, with headquarters in San Jose, California, employs over 140 personnel worldwide.
